Even though I’ve never considered myself as a designer who focuses on one thing - for pretty long time my most favorite subject on digital art was landscapes. My work never has been based or focused on characters. But because of the nature of this certain topic I had to create a character that symbolizes multiple personality.
To realize the idea visualized in my mind I first needed three pieces of human (female) heads. For this I used DAZ Studio with modifying a female head template with giving them different expressions and then exported them one by one and put them together in Cinema 4D.
After that simple process I exported the mesh to 3D Coat - and it imported with some errors. Interestingly enough those errors gave a unique look to character and instead of cleaning them up, I started messing around with sculpting tools and keep sculpting and sculpting.
When I felt that I’m done with sculpting I exported the mesh back to the Cinema 4D and started to working on lighting right away which was the most fun part to me.
I figured that I work more comfortable when I start with just one light and experiment with its color, warmness or coolness and its shadows and then move to a second and then third one. My goal was to emphasize the details and give some definition on contours while keeping it mysterious.
The very final version is even more different than the last result I’ve posted here since I also do a lot of post work and paint over on my work to get the final look I wanted. I hope enjoyed to see a small fraction of my process - this project required different kind of approach and lots of experiment but in the end I got the result I desired.
